First day of homebound virtual school and Fedell "Dee" Richardson (the 1st Mr. Shrine) was super excited!
Congratulations Melvin Hicks
Today is the last day of March & the last day of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month! Many years ago when my mom was working in the school system one of her after school students called me an freak because I was in my wheelchair & because of my condition. My mom simply told him that he could easily go out & get by an car & end up in a wheelchair sometimes we must be careful how we say things about people when I was much younger I didn't understand why I had to have Cerebral Palsy but over the years I have gained much strength from something that I once thought was an curse.
This is the official day of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month even though sometimes I feel down because of my condition my life has been inspiration to many almost 32 years of my life I have lived with this condition. Some people state all you can't do is walk you have an good mind & you are very intelligent. Some people state I forget you are an wheelchair when they begin to talk with me I am grateful to God because I have been able to accomplish more with Cerebral Palsy & being in my wheelchair than some others some people may have felt as though I wanted to be seen those persons where right I wanted be seen for the glory of God. On last year God put it on my pastor's heart Nehemiah Kennedy to license me into the ministry he look beyond my condition & saw the God on the inside of me & because of this I have been teach classes & minster. Everytime I have tried to end my life God has stepped in. God shall continue to get the Glory! Minster Roderick Tibbs Everyday is an press!!
It's good to reflect back on your life & even though it's black history month I appreciate God for my history as well I was the first one ever from my school which is an school for children who have special needs I was the first one from my school to go to another & be inducted into the National Honors Society as well as the Senior Of Year as well as be honored by the Memphis City Schools not bragging or boasting just appreciating God for part of my story. Shrine School forever!!!😊!
I dressed up like a piñada today for !

Happy Read Across America Day from Shrine School! Shrine had a picture-book themed scavenger hunt around the whole school to celebrate Read Across America's theme "Play with Stories!" We went to the pool with Jabari, made green eggs with Sam, went to the library with Lottie, fixed our wheelchairs with Zara, learned to say "please" with Sophia, and ventured outside with Dr. Seuss, all while we dressed as our favorite picture book characters! Thanks to everyone who helped out and to the students, faculty, and staff for participating and sharing our love of reading!
