We're hiring an Agriculture Program Manager for the Commercial Pesticide Program.

This position is based at the Tennessee Department of Agriculture's Ellington Agricultural Center campus in Nashville and will help oversee the state's commercial pesticide program by supporting program operations, developing policies and procedures, supervising staff and working with stakeholders to ensure compliance with state pesticide regulations.

The role also supports program planning, staff development, recordkeeping and continuous improvement efforts that help protect Tennessee's agricultural industry.

While New World screwworm has not been detected in Tennessee, livestock and pet owners are encouraged to stay informed and inspect animals regularly.

New World screwworm can infest livestock, pets and wildlife. Knowing the signs and reporting suspected cases early are important to protecting animal health.

Check wounds and areas around the nose, ears, eyes, mouth and genitalia. Watch for drainage, discharge, bleeding, swelling, unusual odors or visible larvae.

Suspected cases should be reported within 24 hours to the Tennessee State Veterinarian’s Office at 615-837-5120 or [email protected]. After hours and on weekends, call 866-536-7593.

The 2025 Annual Meeting of the Tennessee Mosquito and Vector Control Association (TMVCA) will be held on January 23-24, 2025, at the Ellington Agricultural Center, The Exhibition Barn, 440 Hogan Rd., Nashville, TN 37220. They will be conducting a Student Competition (award of $500 for winner). Research regarding mosquitoes and other vectors, vector-borne diseases, their control and surveillance, and other arthropods that affect human or animal health may be presented.
