Stax Music Academy is some of the best musical instruction in the city! No other city in the country has such a unique facility and space for educating entertainers. This program will enhance your kids skill level with their school band or any other musical activities.

Does your child or teen have a passion for music? Whether they're involved in band, choir, or creating original songs, Stax Music Academy is the perfect place to connect with other young artists and grow their talents!

🎤 Auditions are held the first Friday of every month from 3:30 - 6:30 PM. Submit an application to secure a spot!

Where are my singers? Does anyone from 5 years old to 100+ want to enter an awesome local music vocal competition? The 12: The Ultimate Southern Vocal Competition

Memphis’ very own Lil Rounds (American Idol) just reached out to me and she’s hosting a talent competition, “The 12: The Ultimate Southern Vocal Competition,” at the Orpheum Theatre in September. She’s currently holding auditions to find 12 contestants for the competition. Auditions are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, June 22, starting at 11am at Stax Music Academy and on June 29th at Visible Music College.

If you’re interested, please DM me and I can send you the details and help facilitate an audition time. The audition is simply singing any song to a track that you wanna bring. It doesn’t have to be your competition song, just an audition song.

Join us as the Memphis Symphony Orchestra proudly presents the EDDY AWARD to a remarkable community member! This prestigious accolade honors individuals who have made transformative contributions to cultural awareness through the performing arts, utilizing music to foster intentional inclusion and community engagement for all. The 2024 recipient is Stephen Lee, the Founder/Artistic and Executive Director of the Memphis Jazz Workshop.

📅 Save the date: The EDDY AWARD presentation will take place during the Masterworks concert on April 27, 2024, at the Cannon Center for Performing Arts.

🌊 THE EDDY: The Current That Changed the Course of the River
To provide further clarity, an "eddy" refers to a circular current that diverges from the main water flow, altering the course of the river. Just like a fallen rock in a stream, this unique recognition symbolizes an individual who has facilitated change through the power of music.

For over a decade, more than 200 women (45% minority) from diverse backgrounds and life experiences have journeyed through the Circle of Friends, symbolically "diving into the river" to realize their shared vision of intentional inclusion through the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Their mission remains steadfast, akin to an eddy reshaping the course of a river — formidable, continuous, and ever-flowing.
