We are so proud to officially announce that Idlewild Elementary has received a national award from the Magnet Schools of America as a Nationally Certified Magnet School. This is the next level of achievement from this organization and is good through August 2030. This puts us in an elite group of 337 schools across the country. Here is some more information about Magnet Schools of America:

Magnet Schools of America (MSA), the national association of magnet and theme-based schools, created this national certification process designed to recognize the most exemplary magnet schools in the nation and help them as they continue to grow and provide high-quality, innovative curriculum and instructional programs that promote choice, equity, diversity, and academic excellence for all students. The certification process is based on the five pillars of magnet schools and the National Magnet School Standards of Excellence. We can’t wait to see you at Gear Up Night! Make sure you plan to stop by and see the one and only Idlewild Optional School PTO and pick up some spirit wear! It’s almost time Eagles! 🦅 🎉

The first day of the 2026–27 school year is just over TWO weeks away, and we’re kicking off with Gear Up Night on Thursday, July 30!

Join us in the cafeteria where PTO will be selling spirit wear, handing out popsicles, and hosting the uniform exchange.

We are so excited to share that Idlewild Elementary School has been named the TN Arts Academy Arts Rich Elementary School of the Year!

Earlier this year, we were excited to be named a TAA Arts Rich School of Merit and we are thrilled to now be recognized as the TAA Arts Rich Elementary School of the Year. This distinction is truly a reflection of the entire Idlewild community.

Idlewild is a STEAM school by design and by belief. We chose STEAM over STEM not because it was easier, but because it more closely reflects our community and our values. We believe the inclusion of the Arts makes our students better thinkers, collaborators, and humans. Idlewild is an Arts Rich School that embraces the “A” in its STEAM designation and is proud to display it as a TAA Arts Rich School of the Year.
