Our third graders enjoyed a wonderful and inspiring morning with local Memphis author and educator, Alice Faye Duncan. She read her book, The Dream Builder’s Blueprint with our Eagles! 📖🦅💙Thank you to our adopter, Idlewild Presbyterian Church for coordinating the donation of copies of her books to our third, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms in honor of Anne Freeman. What a wonderful way to celebrate Library Card Month! 📚Memphis-Shelby County Schools - MSCS

Let’s go Eagles! 🎉🦅💙

We are so proud to officially announce that Idlewild Elementary has received a national award from the Magnet Schools of America as a Nationally Certified Magnet School. This is the next level of achievement from this organization and is good through August 2030. This puts us in an elite group of 337 schools across the country. Here is some more information about Magnet Schools of America:

Magnet Schools of America (MSA), the national association of magnet and theme-based schools, created this national certification process designed to recognize the most exemplary magnet schools in the nation and help them as they continue to grow and provide high-quality, innovative curriculum and instructional programs that promote choice, equity, diversity, and academic excellence for all students. The certification process is based on the five pillars of magnet schools and the National Magnet School Standards of Excellence. These standards define the essential elements and characteristics of high-quality magnet programs. Memphis-Shelby County Schools - MSCS Michelle Robinson McKissack

Magnet Schools of America (MSA) is pleased to announce we have named 40 Nationally Certified Schools and 37 Nationally Certified Demonstration Schools, bringing the total number of nationally certified schools across the country to 337. As shining examples of magnet school excellence, these schools offer exceptional learning opportunities and join a distinguished, growing group of nationally recognized magnet programs.
