Today, I attended the Business Leaders Huddle featuring Superintendent Dr. Marie N. Feagins. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Feagins, the new superintendent of MSCS, and was impressed by her strategic plan to uplift our school system. Xcelente Trucking & Logistics Training Services' summer youth interns engaged with her, sharing ideas and asking tough questions from a youth perspective. I am confident that the school board made an excellent choice in selecting Dr. Feagins, who prioritizes our children and has a powerhouse of a vision for the future of MSCS. I fully support her and believe she will excel in her new role.

Advocating for justice-impacted individuals, including felons, seeking opportunities and funding from the Small Business Administration (SBA), it was an honor to meet and greet Mr. Dilawar Syed, the Deputy Chief Administrator of the SBA in the United States. The SBA now provides funding opportunities for justice-impacted individuals and felons, who were previously excluded, discriminated against, and ignored. The tour of Memphis was informative and I appreciate the discussions and support for small businesses. Thank you to Dr. Joann Massey and Trey Moore EDGE for the invitation.

Today, I had the privilege of speaking with and educating currently incarcerated individuals who are in the process of being released from prison about skill trades and wrap-around resources available in our community as part of a comprehensive reentry program for justice-impacted individuals. Despite the distance between their lives and dreams seeming impossible to bridge, taking action is crucial.
