Friends & Supporters — it is with a heavy heart that we have to share some difficult news about the Binghampton Community School. In July 2022, the Shelby County School District denied our charter application. We put forth an appeal to the Tennessee Charter Commission and unfortunately, in October 2022, they denied our appeal. Given this setback, along with unexpected and insurmountable financial and staffing challenges, we can no longer continue the work of advancing BCS.

While this is not the news we wanted to share, we hold the fondest memories of our work with you all. We sincerely appreciate the time you gave to us. What we learned from our engagement with you will continue to inform our future work in pursuing educational equity. While we will be closing this page on June 30th, we hope to remain connected, and we look forward to continuing to see the amazing work that is being done and will continue to be done in Binghampton.
