Congratulations to PhD candidate, Nasim Khaloueipour, and her faculty mentor, Dr. Kevin Reilly, who recently presented a poster at the 2022 Motor Speech Conference in Charleston, South Carolina. The project was entitled, “Vowel and stop consonant cues spoken by adult Persian speakers with Down Syndrome and healthy speakers.” Fantastic work!

Think again if you believe speech-language therapy is only provided indoors. 🏫 Think again if you believe speech-language therapy is only for elementary-aged children. 👧🏻👦🏽

HEARING CARE FOR ALL!
Screen. Rehabilitate. Communicate.

The World Health Organization has deemed this to be the theme for World Hearing Day 2021.

Our students have daily opportunities to support our patients and community by doing these three things. Here, Shannon Clark, a third year SLP graduate student, is performing hearing and cognitive screenings on a patient at North Physicians Group, Dr. Tchad F. Griffin in Knoxville.

Thank you to the many off-campus clinics and programs who provide wonderful educational experiences for our students.

Here's a neat story from a local tv station about some "window" masks that our faculty, staff, and students will soon be wearing. While keeping everyone as safe as possible, we want our patients to have maximum understanding of what's being communicated to them. A local SLP, Kandace Turner, who is also an excellent seamstress, is helping us reach this goal!
