Near the end of summer, we reached the incredible milestone of 1000 individual one-on-one ACT sessions, since we started them back in May of 2021. We really couldn’t have done it without our amazing tutors who graciously volunteered their time for all 1000 hours. Special shout-out to our Hall-of-Fame tutors who tutored individually over 50 hours: Hita “Hyena” Mohan (63 sessions), Erin “Froggie” Monroe (77), and Ashwinaa “AMV” Vaithianathan (83 sessions!). We hope to quickly have another 1000 sessions and our website is now live for sessions during the school year. Sign-up today!
Today, we had our 50th tutor of the summer! Our old friend Kate Kiameh (“Larry”) is a student at Lake Forest College. A graduate of St. Mary’s, Kate helped create our website and was one of our very first tutors- we’re so happy to have her back tutoring for us this afternoon!
We want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of our tutors, especially those who have committed to more than 20 hours of tutoring over the past few months: Amelia Dowling (“Boogie”), Ashwinaa Vaithianathan (“AMV”), Erin Monroe (“Froggie”), Hita Mohan (“Hyena”), and Maggie McFadden (“Estherina”).
Lastly, we want to acknowledge our growing number of non SMS tutors. We have 15 tutors from 11 different schools around Shelby County! Check out the last slide for a list of these awesome tutors, and if you’re interested in becoming a tutor, DM us!
Summer sessions are soon drawing to a close, but watch out for our fall schedule in the coming weeks! We’re getting excited for a new school year and a new semester of tutoring!
This week, we’re featuring 4 new tutors: Grayson Finks (St. Mary’s), McKenna Bullard (Lausanne), Chase Pittman (White Station), and Yasmine Ahmed (Germantown High)! We are so excited to welcome these girls to the Memphis Communiversity family- sign up with the link in our bio to be tutored by them or one of our other wonderful tutors!
We are currently looking for more new tutors, so if you or someone you know is interested, DM us! We not only track service hours, but tutoring can actually help our tutors with their ACT skills just as much as it does our tutorees.
