Tonight will be our third performance of Reframing the Narrative at The Kennedy Center! These powerful programs would not be possible without Theresa Ruth Howard Founder of Mobballet and Denise Saunders Thompson, president and CEO of The International Association of Blacks in Dance.

Each show you will see Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ballethnic Dance Company Inc., and Collage Dance Collective along with a commissioned work choreographed by Donald Byrd consisting of an international cast of Black ballet dancers to highlight black excellence personified.

Together we will consider what ballet could look like when we gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential moving forward.

Collage hits national stage with new tour

“I’m really excited about our vision of being a touring company because what that means is we, in essence, would be a major cultural export for Memphis,” Marcellus Harper said.

“We can really be ambassadors for Memphis and ambassadors for the South. We don’t really have a dance company in the South that has a strong touring presence nationally.

I’m excited for Collage to step up and be one of those companies.”
