Unpopular Opinion- a child being read to nightly by a parent/guardian will not help a child that is struggling to read.

This strategy must be paired with solid phonics instruction.

Solid phonics instruction targets the problem and ultimately produces a fluent reader.

A child can speak well and NOT be a good reader. Children pick up on language. The human brain is naturally wired to speak, but not read and write.
