βLiterature reminds us to look at people with proper sight β to see the whole person who stands before us with both a history and a future. It challenges us to change our impersonal gaze of people and instead see the image of God.β - Claude Atcho
We had a wonderful morning hearing from on how to read literature through both a literary and theological lens!
Calling all lovers of ministry, diversity, and/or literature! π£
We are thrilled to host Claude Atcho for a presentation on Black Literature for Ministry Leaders this Saturday, January 18. Claude Atcho (MTS, PhD candidate) is a writer, professor, and pastor of Church of the Resurrection in Charlottesville, VA. On January 18, he will speak about the content of his award winning book, "Reading Black Books." Literature deals with the heart and soul β the same materials that ministry is all about. Come learn how the lessons from African American writers β Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Richard Wright, and more β can challenge, encourage, and shape how we engage peopleβs stories to better serve them with the gospel message that transforms lives and hearts.
