Helping maintain our scholars' mental well-being is a top priority for our team at Gestalt, especially those scholars who are preparing for another drastic change – college. Jocelyn Johnson, our lead counselor at PCA High School, joined WREG's Live at 9 team to discuss the ways in which preparing PCA scholars for college has changed since the pandemic and what needs to be done in schools to ensure college readiness for children – academically, emotionally, socially etc.

Congratulations, Johnathan!
Earlier this week, at only age 15 years old, Johnathan Sherrill obtained a virtual research internship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Hillman Cancer Academy for Computational and Systems Biology and Biomedical Informatics. During this internship, Johnathan will conduct an advanced cancer research project; will receive mentorship from Pitt faculty and researchers; and will participate in career and professional development activities. Johnathan was selected nationwide as one of 10 high school and undergraduate students out of state to participate in this prestigious and impactful internship! To be certified a TN Ready Graduate, Scholars must do the following:
--Earn a 21 or greater on the ACT, or
--Earn four or more post-secondary opportunities while in high school (AP, Dual Enrollment, Dual Credit) or
--Earn and industry certification and complete two post-secondary opportunities or
--Earn a 31 or above on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and complete two post-secondary opportunities

We were so honored to host ICEF RUGBY with Memphis Inner City Rugby today!
After 3 years since our last tour, the ICEF Rugby Odyssey continues, this time in Memphis, TN. Today we visited Power Charter Academy, the original school that started Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR). Teenagers love meeting other teenagers, especially after a long isolating experience. We are practicing together this afternoon. We are grateful to Shane Young and MICR for hosting us and the inaugural Urban Rugby Championship. There's no place else we'd rather be than Memphis, Tennessee. Stay tuned...
