Smart Stars Enrichment Center is currently hiring for a teacher to help aid in caring for our students.

Work hours: 6:30am- 1:30pm Monday- Friday
Pay Range: $11.00- $14.00

The perfect candidate must have the following:

High School/ GED
CPR/ First Aid
Able to pass background check
Have a passion for educating children

Black History Month Spotlight 🔦🔦🔦

Meet Dr. Marie N. Feagins…

Dr. Feagins is a native of Alabama and says she grew up living in public housing and benefitted from the Head Start program. She highlighted her work helping improve SAT scores with Detroit Public Schools growth along with increasing the graduation rate by more than 6 percent for the first time in nearly a decade.

Dr. Feagins received her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Samford University, an Education Specialist/ Master of Education in School Counseling degree from the University of West Alabama, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Alabama, and a Certificate in Education Finance from Georgetown University.

Dr. Feagins became the Superintendent of Memphis-Shelby County Schools in February 2024 but her official start wasn’t until July 2024. During her tenure as Superintendent, Dr. Feagins has touched many lives. Her approach to education wasn’t just text books and pretty programs. She did the work. She visited children in the homes, schools, and did so many community service programs to make sure she HEARD the community. In January 2025, the school board decided to let her go, not because of her work, not because of her ability to transform the system, but because she was a STRONG, POWERFUL, black woman who didn’t take no mess. Her passion is the children and she did everything in her power to make sure the children would be successful.

Her most memorable words: “They chose litagtion over leadership, choas over children”

The perfect candidate must have a minimum of a high school diploma/ GED, CPR/ First Aid certification, and completed Pro solutions training (willing to hire without it but must get it completed before starting). You must also be able to pass a background check.
