STEM learning in action! 📄🔗

During the first week of school, Mr. Delgado’s students took on the Paper Connection Challenge! Working in teams, they used the engineering design process to connect and balance as many sheets of paper as possible between two students—without using their hands.

Through testing, reflecting, and redesigning, students explored forces, friction, balance, and positioning while strengthening their critical-thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. What a creative and engaging way to begin their STEM journey! 🧪⚙️

Our students kicked off PBIS with an exciting SOARapalooza celebration! The event was filled with energy, school spirit, and important reminders to make positive choices and demonstrate respectful, responsible, and safe behavior.

One of the highlights was watching our teachers compete in a fun game of tug-of-war while students cheered them on from the sidelines! 💪📣. We are proud to see our students ready to SOAR into a successful school year! 🌟

⚠️ Safety Update for Families

District 89 became aware of an individual dressed as the "Cat in the Hat," a viral trend in the area near Emerson Elementary School. School safety procedures were immediately followed, and local authorities were contacted and began monitoring the situation closely.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priorities. Please remind your children not to approach unfamiliar individuals and to immediately report anything concerning to a trusted adult or staff member.
