This weekend, we had the blessing of participating in the annual Xochitl-Quetzal Danza Azteca ceremony in honor of Señor Santiago Apóstol. With every prayer, song, and dance, we gave thanks to our creator and our ancestors, honoring the sacred traditions that continue to guide and unite our community. It was a beautiful reminder that our culture, faith, and spirit live on through each generation. We are deeply grateful to have shared in this sacred celebration. 🙏🏽🪶❤️

Today, our hearts were filled with gratitude as we offered our danza to Señor Santiago Apóstol in Belmont Cragin. Every step, every beat of the drum, and every prayer was given with faith, and love.

Thank you to our family Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue for the support. 🪶❤️

We just returned from our Solstice Ceremony, and our hearts are full. ☀️✨

It is always beautiful to gather in community with our danza family, Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue 🪶

This year was especially meaningful as one of our youth chose to participate to be a Xilonen which is a young Women’s program in danza. Through this year-long commitment, she will take on leadership responsibilities within our danza group while learning, growing, and building strong relationships with other young women in our community.

We are proud to witness the next generation stepping into their power, embracing responsibility, and carrying our traditions forward. Thank you to everyone who helps create these spaces for growth, culture, leadership, and community.

Thank you Little Village Chamber of Commerce - La Camara de Comercio de La Villita for having us again this year! It’s always a joy to share our traditions with the community. 💚

Much love to Xochitl-Quetzal Danza Azteca for joining us again, and a huge thank you to my family Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue for coming all the way from Minneapolis to support us on this special day. 🤍

Keeping our traditions alive means everything to us — they’ve been passed down for generations as acts of resistance, resilience, and love. ✊🏽❤️
