Mistakes Help Us GROW!

Today, our Cardinals in Mrs. Hartu's class put their growth mindset into action!

Through a fun classroom activity, students learned that sometimes we make mistakes, and sometimes we even make a little mess! 😊 What matters most is what we do next: take responsibility, clean it up, learn from it, and keep going.

Just like cleaning up a mess, mistakes give us an opportunity to pause, problem-solve, and try again. We want our Cardinals to know that they don’t have to get everything right the first time. Learning happens in the trying, the fixing, and the growing!

At HME, we’re building learners who can say:
I made a mistake.
I can learn from it.
I can make it better.
I can try again.

Because mistakes aren’t the end of learning, they’re often where the best learning begins!

📣 Young Cardinals in Pre-K through fifth grade are invited to join Birdie’s pre-game experience through the Birdie Fan Club! Members will enjoy games, activities, and time with Birdie before select Melissa High School home football games at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium.

Birdie Fan Club membership is $50 per student and includes free admission for the student member to three selected district home games this season. Parents and family members will need to purchase their own game admission.

For each of the three selected games, students should arrive at 6:30 p.m. at the North End of the stadium for pre-game activities. Following the pre-game experience, students will stand in the end zone for the National Anthem before being dismissed at the steps at the North End.

Parents can register their student by filling out the Birdie Fan Club Membership Form at www.melissaisd.org/birdiefanclub. Students must be registered by halftime of the August 28 football game to participate.

Week 2, here we come! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is ready for another amazing week at HME! We are so excited to welcome our Cardinals back home and fill our halls with learning, laughter, smiles, and Cardinal Pride!
There truly is No Place Like H♡ME, and we can’t wait to make more memories, learn new things, and SOAR together this week! Let’s make it a GREAT one, Cardinals! ❤️

We officially did it, Day 1 is in the books! 🎉
It was SO good to see all of our Cardinal faces, both new and returning, filling HME with smiles, excitement, and so much energy. From learning classroom expectations and getting settled into new routines to all the fun, laughter, and special moments throughout the day, our Cardinals showed up ready to learn, grow, and SOAR! ✨

A huge THANK YOU to our students, families, and staff for your patience, flexibility, and grace as we navigated our first day together. The first day is always full of a little excitement, a few surprises, and lots of learning and we are so grateful for the wonderful start to our year!

Great job, Cardinals! We are SO proud of you and we can’t wait to see all that this year has in store.
Here’s to an amazing year of learning, growing, and SOARING together! ✨
