Last week, ESCC Career Services was visited by Dr. Ryan Beauchamp of the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership. Here’s what he said:
“✅ Region 5 Site Visit 1: Eastern Shore Community College
My reaction? WOW!
As a Hampton Roads native raised in Virginia Beach, I had not spent nearly enough time on the Eastern Shore. My visit to Eastern Shore Community College showed me how much I had been missing.
As Region 5 Coordinator for the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership, I met with Hayleigh Bradbury, MBA and Scott H. to discuss ESCC’s internship and work-based learning efforts.
The Eastern Shore does not always receive the attention it deserves in statewide conversations, and ESCC shows why it should. The college connects students with employers, integrates career preparation into academic and workforce programs, and provides individualized support that helps students overcome barriers.
This work reflects what ESCC calls its “Culture of YES”—a commitment to meeting students where they are and finding ways to help them move forward.
What impressed me most was how intentionally ESCC serves students and employers. Its approach is grounded in the needs of the Eastern Shore, yet many of its practices offer a model worth studying across the Commonwealth.
Virginia should take note: ESCC is doing incredible work to expand opportunity, support economic mobility, and strengthen the local workforce.”
