On September 11th, we reflect on the events of 25 years ago when 2,977 Americans lost their lives in terrorist attacks. To a generation who wasn’t even born yet, this is something they can only learn about through stories, pictures, and memories of those who lived through it. Mrs. Shaffer’s class painted the American flag as they paused to remember the past.

For the Victims and Families of September 11, 2001:
“Remember Thy servants, O Lord, according to the favour which Thou bearest unto Thy people, and grant that, increasing in knowledge and love of Thee, they may go from strength to strength, in the life of perfect service, in Thy heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever, one God, world without end. Amen.”

The students in Mr. Springer’s Woodworking class have officially completed their first project! Using clamps, a saw, wood glue, a drill press, spokeshaves, and sandpaper, our Gladiators manufactured their very own wooden hammers. These personalized tools will be used throughout the school year in future projects much like the wooden hammer Mr. Springer created and uses daily in his own woodworking business. We are so proud of the care you put into your first project and the skills you’re beginning to build in the shop!

Kindergarten students thoroughly enjoyed their literature activities that centered around “How To Make An Apple Pie and See the World” by Marjorie Priceman. They sampled various apples, compared and contrasted different flavors, colors, and textures, and used them to paint, creating fun artwork to take home. It was a fun and delicious way to connect reading with real-world learning!

“For Schools, Colleges, and Universities.

ALMIGHTY God, we beseech thee, with thy gracious favour to behold our universities, colleges, and schools, especially Saint Paul’s Classical School, that knowledge may be increased among us, and all good learning flourish and abound. Bless all who teach and all who learn; and grant that in humility of heart they may ever look unto thee, who art the fountain of all wisdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

5th grade students have been learning about the fall of the Roman Empire in their World History class. In order to better understand the Roman army, they created their own standards similar to the ones Roman soldiers carried into battle to represent and identify their legion. Students also learned about a special soldier called a signifer who had the great honor and responsibility of carrying and protecting the legion's standard. This standard was of such importance that to lose it in battle would have brought great shame and even the disbandment of the legion as punishment. Through this hands-on project, students gained a deeper appreciation of the importance, pride, and responsibility these standards represented to the Roman soldiers.

The women of our parish had a lovely time of fellowship at Jimmy Hula’s for August’s Women’s Dinner. It’s a blessing to have consistent opportunities to connect and share life together with other sisters in Christ. Be sure to check your email for all the details about September’s gathering, and don’t forget to RSVP. We’d love to see you there!

Throughout the summer, the children of our parish gathered each week for times of fellowship, friendship, and good old-fashioned fun. These gatherings were a wonderful opportunity for our young people to grow together as part of the Church body. We give thanks to God for the gift of Christian fellowship, for the joy of these children, and for the parish family we share!

We want to thank W+J Construction from the bottom of our hearts! Without our W+J Superintendant Garrett Tantius and his crew’s hard work, this project would not have come together nearly as smoothly. Their dedication, expertise, and attention to detail helped bring Fr. Brian’s vision to life. Check out this tour of the final walk through.
