The Apple Butter making workshops were a blast! Amazing taste and very simple to make. Eating on toast or using as a glaze on meats. Apple butter is always a hit with me. Remember when doing food preservation to use researched recipes and the correct vinegar 5 % acidity. Family and Consumer Science Agent ~ Elizabeth Daigle

Mrs. Moore and the ladies who attended the Sewing Fellowship recently spent time making special nap pillows for a local daycare facility! The youngsters will soon receive these handmade pillows, and we know they will be treasured during nap time.

It looked like a wonderful sewing event filled with fellowship, creativity, and learning. Several members also brought quilts they have been working on to share with the group.

If you are interested in joining the Sewing Fellowship and learning basic sewing skills, contact the Extension Office for upcoming dates and times. We would love to have you join us!

May 21st was the Rice is Nice Contest and Dairy Foods Contest sponsored by Farm Bureau. The Izard County Farm Bureau Women's Committee has always been a huge 4-H supporter. The Women's Committee judged the dishes this year. The cooking contest have rules the 4-H members must follow, and each year the members show growth in their cooking skills.

The members have found very unique recipes to showcase rice as one of the main crops produced within the state of Arkansas. In the Dairy Foods contest dairy products must be incorporated into their dishes in various ways from cheeses, creams, and milk products.

Izard County 4-H appreciates the partnership with Izard County Farm Bureau and the Izard County Farm Bureau Women's Committee for this amazing opportunity for the 4-H members.

Congratulations to the outstanding Izard County 4-H members who participated in the State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest in April! We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and livestock knowledge these youth demonstrated.

Participants evaluated classes of Dorper rams, market lambs, and wether dam ewes, while also presenting oral reasons during the sheep evaluation portion of the contest.

We are proud of all our Izard County participants for representing our county so well and for their commitment to learning and leadership through 4-H! 🍀🐑
