Pediatric Wizards

Pediatric Wizards The Magic of Caring!!! There are two separate waiting rooms to accommodate both sick and well children.

Dr. Helft has been caring for the children of Brevard County for almost twenty years and has built a well-respected pediatric practice known as Pediatric Wizards. As part of his commitment to children, Dr. Helft has taken part in a medical mission trip to Nicaragua and takes great pride in caring for the children of our military service members. His bright, fun, kid-centered office, located at 131

0 West Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne, starts with a yellow brick road leading to a Medieval Castle at the front desk. A sleeping dragon in the hallway leads the children to four exam rooms, each with a different theme to make patients of all ages feel comfortable. Parents love to see photos of their children posted on the walls, along with lots of sports memorabilia as Dr. Helft is a huge sports fan. Both healthy and sick children get excited to visit The Wizard and his Castle. The office has recently decided to open its Castle doors and accept new patients (so long as the family is willing to vaccinate, even using a modified schedule). Patients are accepted on an individual basis so that the practitioner sees no more than an average of thirty patients per day. Dr. Helft strongly believes in quality over quantity, and therefore believes that seeing a higher volume of patients (as most other pediatric practices do) would compromise the quality of care provided. He also realizes that waiting for long periods of time is unacceptable to busy parents and that patients should never be treated like a number. The office strives to make every family feel special and have their children receive the care and attention that they deserve. The Pediatric Wizards’ motto is “The Magic of Caring”, and every staff member is held to high standards to ensure each family and child is treated with respect, compassion, and the best medical care possible. To get a sense of why Dr. Helft and the staff of Pediatric Wizards are so beloved and respected in the community, check out the comments on their page, or visit their website at www.pediatricwizards.com.

Anyone else feel like the school year starts and suddenly someone in the house ALWAYS has a runny nose? 🤧🙋‍♀️

Back-to-school means new classrooms, new friends…and lots of new germ exposure.

And sometimes it isn’t one never-ending illness. One virus may be winding down just as your child picks up another, making those first weeks of school feel like one very long sick season. 😩

The good news? For many kids, those frequent viral illnesses are a normal part of being around other children.

🪄 Save this post for the next time you find yourself saying, “But they JUST got better!”

And as always, if you’re concerned about your child’s symptoms or something just doesn’t seem right, give us a call.

🎗️ September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, we honor the incredible strength of children facing cancer, the families standing beside them, and the healthcare teams caring for them every step of the way. 💛

Every child deserves the chance to grow, play, dream, and simply be a kid.

This September, we wear gold for awareness, support, and hope. 🎗️💛

Every milestone deserves to be celebrated.

Not every success comes with a trophy.

Sometimes the biggest accomplishments are the ones that happen quietly each day.

✨ Trying something new.
📚 Finishing a book.
🤝 Making a new friend.
💪 Keeping going after making a mistake.
💜 Showing kindness to someone else.

When we celebrate effort instead of perfection, we help children build confidence, resilience, and a love of learning that lasts far beyond the classroom.

This week, take a moment to recognize the little wins—they often become the biggest victories. 💙

Apparently not everyone is going to think he’s cute and funny…

And apparently not everyone has good judgment. 😂🦎

Because LOOK AT HIM. The cuteness is not up for debate. 💜😂

After School Check-In 🚗💬

Instead of asking, “How was school?” (and getting the usual “Fine.” 😉), try asking questions that encourage your child to share more about their day.

❤️ What made you smile today?
📚 What is something new you learned?
👫 Who did you spend time with today?
🌟 Did you help someone—or did someone help you?
💭 Is there anything you want to talk about?

Meaningful conversations don’t have to be long. Whether it’s during the ride home, while making dinner, or before bedtime, taking a few minutes to connect each day can help build trust, strengthen communication, and support your child’s emotional well-being.

Sometimes the best conversations start with the right question. 💜

Bike & Scooter Safety 🚲🛴

Biking and scootering are great ways for kids to stay active, build confidence, and enjoy the outdoors, but safety always comes first!

Before every ride, remember these simple safety tips:
🪖 Wear a properly fitted helmet every time.
✔️ Check that brakes, tires, and handlebars are in good working order.
🚴 Ride with traffic and follow all signs and signals.
👀 Wear bright colors and stay visible.
🚗 Stay alert for cars, pedestrians, and other obstacles.

A few simple safety habits today can help prevent serious injuries tomorrow.

Let’s help our kids ride smart, stay safe, and have fun! 💜

Rash descriptions over the phone be like:

“It’s red… but not really red. Kinda bumpy… but also flat. And it looked different yesterday.” 😂

We’re pretty good at what we do… but sometimes we just need to SEE it. 👀🤣

Welcoming Our Littlest Wizards! ✨

Did you know Pediatric Wizards is accepting newborn patients? 👶💜

Those first few weeks come with lots of questions, very little sleep, and so many special moments. Our team is here to help families navigate it all—from those first newborn checkups and feeding questions to growth, development, vaccines, and everything in between.

If you’re expecting a baby or recently welcomed a little one, we’d love to welcome your family to Pediatric Wizards.

📞 Call our office to learn more or schedule your newborn’s first visit.

Know someone who’s expecting? Share this post with a mama-to-be! 💜

Wellness Wednesday: Kindness Counts

Kindness is one of the greatest gifts we can teach our children and it doesn’t take much to make a big difference.

This week, encourage your child to:
💜 Include someone who may be sitting alone.
😊 Use kind words.
🤝 Help a classmate.
🌟 Share a smile.
🛡️ Stand up for others and tell a trusted adult if someone is being bullied.

A simple act of kindness can brighten someone’s day and help create a school where every child feels welcome, respected, and valued.

Let’s work together to build a community where kindness always has a seat at the table. 💜
