We're starting to get some well ripened drops which means we're almost there! We like waiting for the fruit to finish on the tree and selective harvest a little each day. Very excited to try all the first years fruits on the seedling trees planted many moons ago. Stay tuned in for upcoming fruit stand days if we can manage not to hoard them all for ourselves πŸ₯

We have been bulking up our nursery with intentionally selected seedlings of mango and avocado!
Why would anyone plant a seedling? We have found that planting from seed (generally) will produce a plant with a strong root system, the tree will grow vegetatively faster, and not to mention will provide you with an increase in genetic diversity that could be superior to other grafted cultivars.

Enriching students of the State College Horticulture Program with some hands on propagation experience in our subtropical food forest! Today we practiced a variety of grafting techniques like the cleft graft on turpentine rootstock and Glenn scion wood as demonstrated in the photos.

We're blessed with an abundance of crops this summer and we're excited to offer some to the community. Come on out this evening and get set up with some nice fruits and products from our little food forest in the city. Invest in local regenerative agriculture and education. 4-7 pm Friday July 1st, weather permitting.
We're going to be making these happen weekly upon our return in August, but this is the last one for July.
See ya there.
