Happy Thursday Friends!

I am sharing this post to let you all know that I will be sharing all of my most up to date information about classes, events, and general posts on my new page Mindfully MelLo 🤗 (Facebook wouldn’t let me transfer my name, so I am starting from scratch here!) I will be sharing the same content on my new page but there will be much more coming at you - it will be a space for you to find helpful info on topics like yoga + stress reduction + community involvement + personal development & more. Let me explain to you a little bit more on why I am making the shift from Melissa Faith Yoga to Mindfully MelLo...

🌺

If you’re reading this, you’re probably noticing that I’ve made the decision to switch my online presence from Melissa Faith Yoga to Mindfully MelLo. I want to explain that decision in a little more detail.

Melissa Faith Yoga was created a few years ago, as I had the urge to share what I was learning from my yoga practice and teaching in my yoga classes. During the time since I created those accounts, my life has shifted in so many ways that the intention of what I’d like to share with the world is hard to wrap up in just ‘Melissa Faith Yoga.’ For the past few months, I’ve sat in endless meditations, countless journaling exercises, had deep heart to hearts with so many of my friends and journeyed down a long road that led me consciously to Mindfully MelLo.

Mindfully MelLo was created with the intention of bridging the road between the old Melissa (Faith) Hege to the transformed Melissa Lopez. From the young woman who wanted to share yoga with the world to the empowered woman who wants to share more of her heart. I want a platform that can grow with me along this journey. Something that is inclusive, welcoming a diverse commUNITY of souls to find a safe space in growing, healing and connecting. I will offer more resources on Yoga, of course, but also about Mindfulness, Meditation, Personal and Spiritual Development, Healing, Self Care, Wellness, Community Organizing, Social Awareness and SO much more. These are all so many of the things that light my soul on fire, all things I want to share with you, from the depths of my heart.

I hope you’ll keep your heart open and stay connected with me as I continue this Mindfully MelLo adventure. 🌺

Happy Tuesday Friends,

Today’s intention is about making time to not only tune in-to yourSelf and your body, but LISTENING to your body.

For me, this is manifesting as taking time to rest & restore. After a few weeks of pain, multiple dr visits & various tests - yesterday, I was diagnosed with a kidney infection from the bladder infection and UTI that I also had. I’m not stoked on it but really, who would be? I have so many things I want to do today, but my body is demanding that I take time to heal. So that’s where I am at. Laying down on my couch, watching Gilmore girls and waiting on my doctors to figure out a form of medication that I am not allergic to or that doesn’t have absurd side effects yet will also fight this infection.

Finding a medicine that works for me hasn’t been easy, aside from the allergies I have to most mainstream medicines, I’ve moved to almost always care for my body with non-invasive natural methods. This means I rarely resort to western medicine unless it’s absolutely necessary. I haven’t had an antibiotic in YEARS. But here I am again, listening to what my body’s telling me - the natural methods I’ve taken haven’t been strong enough so far, so it’s time for me to be more open. This isn’t easy for me, as a child I was overprescribed antibiotics and as an adult I found myself having negative, sometimes super rare reactions to most forms of western medicine I was prescribed. It’s not exciting to be in this space but I know more than anything my body needs me to listen to it, to be open and trust my intuition.

So this is my long winded, rambling and somewhat emotional background of the intention behind today’s intention. Its just me sharing what I am working through, hoping maybe this community will help you feel like you aren’t alone if you are working through something like this too. And hopefully, these intentions will empower you to find strength within yourself.

Mindfully,
MelLo 🌺

Today’s intention is a reminder on the significance to tune in to yourself.

Monday’s can be a drag because our society has a tendency to make us dread the first day after the weekend. Instead of dreading Monday’s, what if we shifted our perspective and made it a day to tune into ourselves? A day to check in to see what we want to create this week? Observe what you need - mentally, physically, emotionally & spiritually. As you start to check in with yourself, it’s easier to find clarity moving through a week that opens the door to more self care and fulfillment from the week.

Make today about YOU. You got this and you deserve an amazing week full of all the things your heart desires. 🌞

Happy Saturday Friends!! 🌞

Today’s intention is a simple yet powerful reminder to just be present. Whenever you are, whatever you’re doing today, give yourself permission to be fully there. Without judgement, expectation or anticipation of what’s next. Just breathing in deeply right where you are. 😌

This was my intention today as my beautiful friend, Aisling led our community through a beautiful beach yoga class this morning. I sat there with this intention to be present, feeling myself settle into the sand while sun woke up my soul, the birds sang my mind to ease and the wind soothed me into stillness. Simple moments, where the world slipped away. My to-do lists were not existent. The rest of today’s activities were not there. There was nothing lingering from this week, no stressors or worries were welcome. As I sat there, despite being with a group of people in a public place, for a little while it was just me in my breath on the beach. The moments of feeling my breath carry my into deep presence, that’s what I am carrying with me through the rest of the day. I hope you will too. 🙏🏽

Mindfully,
MelLo 💕

Today I will listen more than I speak.

I woke up this morning, opened my instagram and saw the most beautiful thing, countless women I follow opening their instagram post to hold space for other women to speak their truth. It was one of those moments where I sat in awe as I read through hundreds of comments from women everywhere. Women who were afraid for what’s to come and where our country is at, and who had been abused but in this tiny little box they found the support of other women to feel empowered enough to stand in their truth & to be held, whether through heartfelt comments, kind emojis or simply seeing likes to the truth they spoke.
Waking up to that was a reminder of how important it is to HOLD SPACE for someone else so that you can really HEAR them, without responding right away. When you take away your need to respond to everything you hear immediately, you open this beautiful space to just let others speak their truth in an empowered, judgement free zone.

If you add mindfulness to your conversations by simply being conscious and choosing to LISTEN more than you speak, you’ll start to realize just how often we respond to other people’s words because we are acting on impulse or because we want to do/say something for ourselves. It’s hard to hear a friend or even a stranger speak on things without responding right away, especially when their words make us feel sad or uncomfortable, even if you just want to rush to hug them, take time to really HEAR them, let them speak fully and before you jump to respond pause, let them breathe a little more in the beautiful and intentional space you created for them to move through whatever arises. Equally as important as it is for you to hold space for others by listening more than you speak, it’s necessary to find space where YOU can be held to speak freely (without judgement, without feeling rushed, or without feeling limited).

So as we move through today, practice listening more than you speak. Feel the power of holding space for others & let’s together hold loving space for Dr. Ford. Let’s let the conversation continue, when women speak their truth in a space where people actually make space to hear them, the world changes. 💙

Ps... if you need a space to speak your truth, you have it here. 💖

Today I will seek beauty in everything I experience

This intention is set to remind you to “stop & smell the roses.” I snapped this shot last night when I was taking a photography class with one of my favorite humans (Cameron 🤗). While she was teaching us about using the elements, looking for different angles/depth/lines when we’re taking photos, I couldn’t help but find a few moments of awe in the beauty of Cameron working with her daughter. The laughs, the encouragement, the smiles, the trust they had for each other - it was all every day stuff but in those moments, it was so much more.

Even though it was so simple for me it was much more profound. Maybe because I’ve been a little homesick lately, with my own mom so far away or maybe because the connection between mother & daughter, while often overlooked is really one of the most beautiful things in this life. In those moments, I remembered why it’s important to stop & “smell the roses.” Taking the time to breathe in that moment with my friends, made me capable of feeling the depths of what I was experiencing, beautiful connection, which would’ve been overlooked had I just continued on about my day without intention.

So with that inspiration, I’m carrying that intention today, to look for beauty in the mundane tasks of day to day life (which is currently purging & cleaning our house - letting go of things that I don’t need anymore, it’s freeing - it’s beautiful, it’s also an utter mess. So here’s to remembering the beauty to carry me through 🤷🏻‍♀️😂).
