Each year, Medina City Schools recognizes the incredible volunteers who make a difference in students’ lives. This year, Jan Simmons, Master Gardener from the OSU Extension, was recognized as one of the district’s Volunteers of the Year.

Through her work with second-grade students at Ella Canavan and across the district, Mrs. Simmons has inspired a love of gardening, learning, and nature in countless students. Our team worked hard organizing and closing our classrooms for the summer. It’s always a bittersweet time as we say goodbye for now—we will truly miss every child.

Now, we’re sliding into summer with full hearts ☀️

Each member of our fabulous staff received a $50 gift card to their favorite store and a stunning wooden flower bouquet donated by Tipsy Designs, and a few other goodies! 💐

Teachers, we hope you felt loved and appreciated this week - but we also hope you feel that each and every day!

Families, YOU raised $1600 to make this week possible. Thank you so much!

Today, our teachers and staff enjoyed a delicious spread - assorted wraps, fruit salad and veggies, charcuterie and more - on their well-deserved lunch break. 🥪

(We love that we were able to support so many amazing local businesses this week! Shoutout to Bubbles & Bows for making the balloon bouquet you see at the door, too!)

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day - and we say, “We DONUT Know What We’d Do Without You!” 🍩

Decadent donuts from Circles On The Square Donuts and coffee from Cool Beans Cafe were the stars of this morning’s Teacher Appreciation Week breakfast.

The 5s recently welcomed in Miss Kellie from Medina County Soil and Water. She taught the kids about native plants and their importance! 5s students got to create their own plant and pollinator and share why they help each other! Thank you, Medina County Soil and Water!
