A very small handful of things are preferred, interesting, and relevant to them.

Everything else is non-preferred, boring, stupid, not worth their time.

This is also why ADHD and screen-addiction go hand-in-hand. The second you buy your kid a phone, that becomes the only interesting thing to them. Everything else sucks. They stop being bored, stop self-regulating, stop developing skills. They act like a dysregualted addict. Your parenting gets 1000x more difficult, and you become scared of your child.

There is nothing more important for an ADHD child/teen to have VARIED EXPERIENCES- do as many different things as possible before the age of 18.
