🌟 BE SOCIAL. FIND YOUR PEOPLE. CONNECT WITH IMPACT.

The Penn State Brandywine Center for Social Impact invites all students to CSI Impact Day—an afternoon designed to help you connect, have fun, explore campus and community resources, and experience social impact in action.

🏠 Habitat for Humanity activation

RSVP on Discover East to be automatically entered into either our commuter student or residential student raffle. Prizes will be awarded every 30 minutes throughout the event!

We’re also collecting clean plastic bags for the Center for Social Impact Mats of Love Collection Box—bring your bags and help us create impact.

This past weekend, our Penn State Brandywine Center for Social Impact students showed up and served at the Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab’s One-Year Celebration. 🌍 “WE ARE”!!

Thank you to everyone at TGR Foundation and the TGR Learning Lab for creating such an awesome experience for our students, families, volunteers, partners, and surrounding communities.

From STEAM activities to robotics, coding, art, creative learning, and community connection, our students embraced the true meaning of service learning and impact. 🚀🎨🤖

Our Brandywine students left more inspired, more engaged, and more connected to what impact can look like beyond campus. One student shared how they now see future impact opportunities that align with their major, while another expressed interest in becoming a CSI Student Impact Ambassador to help connect TGR and Social Impact for the next generation of students. 💎

This is service learning in action: showing up, serving with purpose, reflecting, connecting, and building pathways for future impact.

CSI students showed up at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in North Wales ready to serve. Together, they organized, sorted, cleaned, and prepared donated materials and household items for resale—while setting a new volunteer-group record for the location.

Giving back, one box, shelf, and community connection at a time. 🏠✨

Our students spent time at Habitat for Humanity’s West Norriton ReStore sorting donations, organizing merchandise, and helping prepare the store to welcome community members.

It was a simple reminder that community impact doesn’t always have to be big or complicated. Sometimes, it starts with simply showing up and being willing to help.

Serving beyond campus. 🌿💙

During New Student Connections Weekend, Penn State Brandywine students spent time at Ridley Creek State Park giving back to the spaces we all share. Students removed invasive plants, cleared trails, and helped care for the park’s natural environment.

Community impact can look like many things—and sometimes, it looks like getting your hands in the dirt and leaving a place better than you found it. 🌱

🌍 Brandywine in Action! Campus to the Community history was made at Penn State Brandywine, and our Center for Social Impact is incredibly proud of what our first-year students accomplished.

During New Student Connections Weekend, our Center for Social Impact led a historic Campus-to-Community service experience. More than 125+ first-year students contributed over 250+ collective service hours before the semester even began. 💙🤍

Our students served through:

🏠 Habitat for Humanity (MontCo/DELCO) ReStore – North Wales
*Where 50 students (the most students to serve there) organized, sorted, cleaned, and prepared donated materials and household items for resale, setting a new volunteer-group record

🏠 Habitat for Humanity (MontCo/DELCO) ReStore – West Norriton
*Students sorted donations, organized merchandise, and helped prepare the store for community members

🩵 CityTeam Chester
*Students supported food distribution and helped organize essential resources for individuals and families in the community

🌿 Ridley Creek State Park
*Students removed invasive plants, cleared trails, and helped maintain the park’s natural spaces

🥫 Our Center for Social Impact Connections Hub
*Students organized our Center’s food pantry and essential items for community distribution

🌻 The Penn State Brandywine Campus Garden
*Students weeded, planted, harvested, and helped maintain the garden’s growing spaces

Impact happens when collaboration meets purpose.

What an incredible day welcoming Youth Development United to Penn State Brandywine’s Center for Social Impact! 🌱🎨🪨

In partnership with our Penn State Brandywine Athletics, we had the opportunity to introduce an amazing group of young leaders to the power of service, sustainability, creativity, and community.

Throughout the afternoon, students:
🪨 Painted kindness rocks that will become a permanent part of our Campus Garden, leaving a lasting impact for future visitors.
🌻 Explored our Campus Garden, discovering pollinators, native plants, and sustainable growing practices.
🥒 Harvested fresh produce while learning how locally grown food helps strengthen food access and community well-being.
🌱 Experienced firsthand sustainable practices by turning t-shirts into handmade bags

One of the moments we’re most proud of sharing is that our Center for Social Impact has harvested and donated more than 150 pounds of fresh produce this summer, helping address food insecurity while educating future leaders about sustainability and service.

This experience reflected each of CSI’s four pillars:

⭐️ Human Rights
💎 Life Literacy

A special thank you to Youth Development United of Chester, PA for spending the day with us, and to our incredible Penn State Brandywine Athletics team for continuing to collaborate with CSI to provide transformative experiences for young people both on and off campus.

As summer rolls to a close, we’re filled with excitement for everything that lies ahead at the Penn State Brandywine Center for Social Impact. Every new academic year brings new opportunities to learn, lead, serve, and build meaningful connections across our campus and community.

Whether you’re a first-year student, returning student, faculty member, staff member, alumnus, or community partner, CSI is here to help you discover your place to make a difference.

This year, our work continues to be guided by our four pillars:

🏅 Congratulations, MiataMarie Alie!

The Penn State Brandywine community proudly celebrates MiataMarie Alie on being recognized on the 2026 ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll.

MiataMarie was selected as Penn State Brandywine’s honoree and is among 168 students recognized nationwide for advancing nonpartisan civic engagement and strengthening democratic participation on college campuses. She is also one of just 13 students from Pennsylvania to receive this distinction.

At the Penn State Brandywine Center for Social Impact, Civic Engagement is one of our core educational pillars, empowering students to discover their voice, actively participate in democracy, and become leaders who create positive change in their communities.
