Founded in 1876, Media-Providence Friends School is a co-ed Quaker day school for students age 2 through grade 8 located in downtown Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. A close-knit learning community, MPFS offers students big views of the world ahead. Here, in small classes, under the caring tutelage of early childhood, elementary school and adolescent experts who are passionate about teaching, students from diverse backgrounds and faiths grow up together, immersed in an academic environment that speaks to all the aspects of their beings: intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual. Every day, students at MPFS are engaged in the processes of learning and inquiry in contexts that honor the Quaker values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, Stewardship, and Service. 🎶 Together, We Grow

As we celebrate 150 years of community, friendship, and shared history at MPFS, our kindergarten - grade 5 students are bringing those same values to the stage!

This year’s two-part concert series, “Together, We Grow,” will celebrate connection, growth, and the milestones we share as a school community. Every song has been thoughtfully selected to reflect what it means to learn, sing, and grow together.

Science got a little gooey at MPFS last week!

Teacher Denny Ballough guided students across multiple grade levels through hands-on experiments with Oobleck, connecting one classic science experiment to what students are learning in the classroom.

Grades 2-3 explored ratios as they prepare to begin their measuring and weighing unit. Grades 7-8 investigated viscosity, shear stress, and Newtonian vs. Non-Newtonian fluids as they get ready for Chemistry. And Grade 1 connected the experiment to their study of States of Matter, observing how Oobleck can behave like both a liquid and a solid.

This year, Denny expanded his role to lead science instruction across both our Lower and Middle School divisions, following in the footsteps of his mother, T. Daryl Ballough, who previously taught Middle School science at MPFS.

We love seeing this MPFS connection continue while our students discover just how fun hands-on science can be!

Our second annual Trunk or Treat is coming up on Friday, October 30, and we’re looking for families to help make it a fun and festive morning for our students!

Decorate your trunk in a spooky, silly, or creative theme and join us as students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 parade around campus in costume and trick-or-treat from car to car.

🚗 Only 25 trunk spots are available!

Join us for an evening of film, history, and conversation at Friends Select School.

On Wednesday, October 7, Friends Select will host a screening of Becoming American: Philadelphia’s Story, a documentary by creator and co-executive producer Oliver St. Clair Franklin that explores the vital contributions of free Africans in shaping Philadelphia and the nation.

The evening will also feature Friends Select on the Parkway: Continuity and Change, an exhibition curated by historian and Friends Select alumna Amy Cohen ’82, exploring the school’s history and continuing presence in Center City Philadelphia.
