Behind every great school is a great community.
At St. Mary's, our teachers don't just work together; they genuinely enjoy being together. Throughout the year, they plan surprise spirit days, coordinate group Halloween costumes, gather for Saturday morning hikes around Roxy Ann, and find countless ways to build friendships beyond the classroom.
Two recent events revolved around, what else? Food!
First, teacher Jeff Cruzan shared one of campus's worst-kept secrets: his legendary apple pie recipe. Staff packed into a pie-making class to learn his techniques (and yes, there may be a parent edition in the future!).
Just a few days later, faculty and staff traded their desks for bicycles, hopping on the Greenway and riding to the Phoodery for a little Friday afternoon fellowship.
These moments may seem small, but they're part of something much bigger. Strong relationships among faculty create a stronger school culture, and students benefit every day from a campus where the adults know, trust, and support one another.
Creating community is something St. Mary's has been doing for 160 years...and counting.

The school year may be winding down, but St. Mary's students are still learning in extraordinary ways.
Over the past two weeks, our students have spread out across Oregon and around the world, embracing experiences that challenge them, inspire them, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Project WILD students recently completed an overnight kayaking and camping expedition on the Rogue River, navigating rapids, preparing meals together, and camping along one of the Pacific Northwest's most beautiful waterways.
Our 8th graders are returning from their annual Oregon Coast capstone experience, where they served on a local farm, strengthened friendships, and reflected on their transition to high school.
Thousands of miles away, students in our Chinese language program are living with host families, attending classes, and exploring the culture and history of China through our partnership with Zhengzhou No. 11 High School.
Our Spanish-language students continue their immersive experience in Argentina, while our Mod Abroad travelers are preparing to depart for Iceland on another unforgettable educational adventure.
At St. Mary's, we believe some of life's greatest lessons happen beyond the classroom. Whether serving a community, navigating a river, or experiencing a new culture firsthand, our students are growing into confident, compassionate, and globally minded leaders.
Where will learning take them next?

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Keep doing this amazing work Reclaiming Lives-Recovery Cafe Medford!
We would like to give a huge shout out and thank you to St. Mary's School for their generous donation to Reclaiming Lives/Recovery Cafe.
Below is a little information on how organizations are chosen…
“Community 101 is a student club that works to learn about our community and fulfill grants to local non-profit organizations. Each year the club researches issues impacting our community, chooses a mission statement for the year, reaches out to local nonprofits that are supporting the mission statement and then invites them to apply for grants. After applications are received club members visit the non-profit to learn more about what they are doing. After all of the site visits the club members decide which grants to fulfill. This year's mission read as follows:
The students at St. Mary’s School have chosen to support the critical issue of substance and alcohol misuse in Southern Oregon. With the generous support of the Oregon Community Foundation, our chapter will be donating funds and volunteer hours to the cause of recovery, prevention, and treatment efforts for those negatively impacted by the use of drugs and alcohol. We aim to see the Community 101 funds increase access to the treatment and prevention of substance addiction and improve the lives of those affected.
Community 101 is a program of the Oregon Community Foundation. The club is given a grant by OCF to use to fulfill the grant requests of the local non profits. In addition to the above activities, throughout the year the club members fundraise to increase the amount of grants they are able to fulfill. The students fundraised $4000 this year which allowed them to distribute $11,000 in total.”

We are honored to receive a $2,800 Community 101 grant from St. Mary's School, in partnership with the Oregon Community Foundation.
This student-led program is truly inspiring. High school participants researched local nonprofits, reviewed applications, conducted site visits, and even fundraised to expand their impact before selecting grant recipients.
These funds will be used to purchase computers that support our workforce development efforts, helping guests build resumes, search for jobs, and improve computer skills alongside trained volunteers. Access to these tools removes barriers and opens doors to opportunity.
Thank you to the students and partners who made this possible. Your work is already making a meaningful difference. 💙
