This is STEM in Action!

Here are some of the reasons why to choose STEM, as well as several popular STEM career pathways.

Less than two weeks from now, educators from across Southern Oregon will gather at SOU for one of the most transformative professional learning experiences SOREN offers.

Teach From Your Best Self is a five-day summer intensive that goes deeper than strategies and frameworks. It's about who you are as an educator and how showing up as your best self changes everything for the students in front of you.

Educators who've been through it will tell you: this one is different!

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to our Southern Oregon Career Center Phlebotomy students!

We're excited to share that 100% of our students passed the NHA Phlebotomy Certification Exam and are now qualified to pursue employment as phlebotomists!

Representing Armadillo Charter School, Rogue River, and Prospect, these students demonstrated incredible dedication throughout the program. Every day, they found a way to get to class, whether by public transportation, driving down the mountain, or riding a school bus. They showed up engaged, in uniform, and ready to learn, consistently demonstrating professionalism and commitment.

For many of these students, this opportunity may not have been possible without a regional program intentionally designed to expand access to career pathways and workforce opportunities. Their success is a powerful reminder of what can happen when students are given access, support, and the chance to pursue their goals.

We couldn't be prouder of their hard work, perseverance, and achievement. Congratulations on this exciting milestone and the opportunities that lie ahead! πŸ‘πŸ©Ί

πŸŽ“πŸ’™ It takes a community to help students cross the finish line.

This week, nearly 800 graduates from 34 schools were celebrated during the 11th Annual Klamath Promise Graduation Sensation Parade and Party in the Parkβ€”a powerful reminder of what is possible when an entire community comes together in support of young people. Over 78 volunteers, dozens of organizations, school staff, families, donors, and community members helped create a day filled with celebration, opportunity, and hope. Together, they awarded a record-breaking $71,080 in scholarships and gifts to graduating seniors.

A special thank you to Jessie McClung at Klamath Promise for her leadership, vision, and tireless commitment to this work. Behind every parade float, scholarship, volunteer, and celebration is a tremendous amount of coordination, relationship-building, and heart. Jessie helps bring people together around a shared belief that every student deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

We are also deeply grateful to the countless community partners, volunteers, donors, educators, families, and organizations who showed up in so many different ways throughout the year and on Graduation Sensation day. This event is proof that when a community invests in its young people, amazing things happen.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026....and thank you, Klamath, for showing what it means to support students together. 🌟

This month, SOESD proudly recognizes Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

We celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and honor the many ways AAPI individuals help strengthen our schools, workplaces, and communities every day.

At SOESD, we believe every story, background, and lived experience matters. By listening, learning, and celebrating the diversity within our communities, we continue working to create spaces where all students, families, and staff feel seen, valued, respected, and supported.

Together, we build stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

The STEM Process is one that includes: asking, using your imagination, planning, creating, and improving.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country, and the families and loved ones who continue to carry their memory forward each day.

Behind every act of service is a human story of courage, sacrifice, love, and loss. Today is a reminder to hold space for reflection, gratitude, and connection as we remember those who gave so much for others. As our communities gather this weekend, we extend our appreciation to all who have been impacted by military service and sacrifice.

In observance of Memorial Day, all SOESD offices will be closed on Monday, May 25.
