Panther families -
The first day of the 2026-2027 school year is just a few weeks way, which means Welcoming Week is just around the corner! It's time to get some of those "before school starts" items crossed off of your to-do list!
At Welcoming Week, your student can:
• Get their school photo taken
• Get their Student ID card
• Change their Chromebook password
• Buy Panther gear
• Make some important, but optional, purchases (more on that a little further down in this post!)
ONLINE REGISTRATION: Prior to joining us for Welcoming Week, please sign on to ParentVUE and complete your student's Online Registration (OLR), if you haven't already. Instructions and links are available on the Medford School District's Online Registration webpage. https://www.medford.k12.or.us/teaching-and-learning/enrollment-and-transfer-center/online-registration
OPTIONAL PURCHASES: By logging on to our online payment portal, InTouch, families can purchase any of the below optional purchases for their student ahead of time. To navigate to the purchasing page, sign in to InTouch, choose your student, click "Items at Student's School", click "26-27 Back To School", and then you will be taken to a page where you can select your item(s). If your student (10th, 11th, and 12th grade only) ended last year qualifying for a Gold or Silver sticker, all applicable discounts are reflected on that purchasing page. Instructions on how to access InTouch are available on the Medford School District's Online Payment Portal & Athletic Registration Webpage. https://www.medford.k12.or.us/families/online-payment-portal
• ASB Sticker ($25) - The ASB sticker is a logo printed on your student's ID card that gives the student free admission to all SMHS home sporting events (with the the exception of playoff games). If you plan to purchase this ahead of time for your student, please keep the emailed receipt, as Lifetouch needs to see that the sticker was purchased prior to taking your student's photo and printing their ID card. There is no fee for your student to get their new Student ID card. The fee listed online is for the sticker.
• 2026-2027 Yearbook ($50)
• P.E. Uniform ($20) - If your student is going to take P.E. this year and is in need of a new uniform, it can be purchased online or in person. Students who purchase uniforms will be able to choose their size and pick up their uniform in P.E. class.
For those families who wish to make their purchases in person and/or prefer to pay with cash, staff will be available during Welcoming Week to assist!
PARKING PERMITS -
Our student parking lot is open to Juniors and Seniors who have purchased a Parking Permit. Parking Permits are available for purchase during Welcoming Week and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis until all parking spots/permits have been purchased. Students who purchase a Parking Permit will be given an assigned, numbered parking spot in the student lot. Parking Permits cannot be purchased online through InTouch.
If your student wishes to purchase a Parking Permit during Welcoming Week, please come prepared with the following documentation/info; otherwise, your student will not be able to be issued a Parking Permit:
1. Their current drivers license
2. The make, model, year, and color of the vehicle they will be driving to campus
3. The license plate number of the vehicle they will be driving to campus
4. The name of the registered owner of the vehicle they will be driving to campus
5. Their parent/guardian's name, phone number, and email address
Parking Permits are $20.
If you and your student are not able to join us next week, your student can get their picture taken, get their Student ID card, and make any optional purchases in-person here at South on Wednesday, September 2nd!
Please reach out to us if you have any questions! Our Main Office can be reached at (541)842-3680!
See you next week!
(the above information was emailed to families at 4:30pm on Tuesday, 8/4/26)

Summer is in full swing, but it's not too early to start planning for next year!
So - school supplies...what do Panthers need?
Well, it's pretty simple!
1) Something to write WITH (pencils & pens - but no permanent markers!)
2) Something to write ON (paper)
3) Something to keep stuff ORGANIZED (a binder with folders, individual notebooks, whatever works best for YOU!)
4) Something to keep your stuff IN (a bag/backpack - unless you want to carry your stuff!)
Lockers are available upon request - stop by the Main Office when school starts to request one!
Your teachers will go over any special supply needs with you in class and give you some time to get those things!
We'll see you in August for Welcoming Week (details will be shared as the dates get closer)!

We are proud to share that our very own Panther, Jordyn Strigle, is one of the winners of the 2026 Community Art Contest, held each year by the City of Medford! This year, there were 43 submissions from area high schools, and Jordyn was 1 of 4 to be selected as a winner! Each winner receives a $1000 cash prize, and their artwork will be displayed in City Hall!
