Our back-to-school bulletin board is shining a little brighter thanks to our students!

Each ray of sunshine was created by a student and shares something personal for the year ahead, a hope, a prayer, a goal, or something they are excited about. Together, all of those individual rays have created one beautiful reminder of the light each of our students brings to our school community.

As we begin a new school year, we pray that our Lakers continue to grow, learn, dream big, care for one another, and most importantly, let their light shine for others to see.

Here’s to a year filled with faith, friendship, growth, and so many answered prayers.

Yesterday, our SMLS community gathered together for our first school Mass of the year, hosted by 8th grade and celebrated by Father Gregg and Father Kevin.

During his homily, Father Gregg reminded our students that some of the most important lessons they will learn this year won’t come from a textbook or be written on a board, they will come from learning how to be a good person and how to live as Jesus calls us to live.

He reminded us that Jesus is always with us and will always be our teacher, leaving our students with this beautiful prayer to carry into the new school year:

Jesus, teach me.
Jesus, guide me.
Jesus, help me become the best person I can be.

What a meaningful way to begin another year, together in prayer, growing in faith, and remembering that the greatest teacher we will ever have is Jesus.

What a wonderful way to begin the 2026–2027 school year at St. Mary of the Lakes!!

Today, we were so happy to welcome our students back to SMLS! Father Gregg and Father Kevin made their way throughout the school, visiting each classroom, welcoming our students, and blessing them with holy water as we begin another year together.

There was so much excitement in the halls as old friends reunited, new friendships began, and our classrooms once again filled with the energy and joy of our Lakers!

We are grateful to begin this new school year surrounded by faith, friendship, and community, and we pray that God blesses our students, families, faculty, and staff in the year ahead.

It was a GREAT first day, and we can’t wait to see all that this year has in store! 💙💛

Welcome back, Lakers! Here’s to a fabulous 2026–2027 school year!
