What Gives You Hope in the World? PJS Photo Campaign 2016 04/19/2016

1) Why did you major in PJS?
"I'm passionate about learning about larger social institutions and their impacts on real people, but more importantly, channeling that knowledge towards tangible social change. The interdisciplinary nature of the major allows me to take a variety of interesting classes and then focus them towards my passion."

2) What course would you recommend and why?
"Env/Eng/PJS 160: Environmental Justice and World Literature with Modhumita Roy. Professor Roy is amazing and the course is constantly challenging me to see the intersections between race, class, gender, and sexuality, and see the impacts of environmental issues on these identities. The readings are so interesting and I look forward to every class!"

3) How do you hope to bring PJS into your future work?
"Also majoring in Biology, my eventual goal is to be able to combine my love of science with my passion for social change to create change within the pharmaceutical industry. I hope to use what I've learned as a PJS major to constantly question, deconstruct, and think about issues of justice."

4) What gives you hope in the world?
"Love and compassion."

5) What's a fun fact about yourself?
"I have a deep love of mozzarella sticks"
