Griffin Creek afterschool students enjoyed spending time outside in the sunshine and beautiful spring weather!. During STEM enrichment, students experimented with DIY lava lamps, exploring simple science concepts through a fun, hands-on activity.

Jackson Afterschool: This week we enjoyed some fun in the sun along with exciting activities for Cinco de Mayo and Star Wars Day!

For Cinco de Mayo, students made and enjoyed “Esquites,” a traditional Hispanic snack made with corn, mayo, butter and cotija cheese. The kids created their own versions and even added Hot Cheetos for extra flavor!
For Star Wars Day, students completed a “Baby Yoda Handprint” craft where they had fun coloring and designing their own Baby Yodas.

During recess, our soccer boys organized their own World Cup-style tournament and chose different countries to represent. Congratulations to our winning team, Sweden, and to Landen and Parker for taking home the championship!

Kennedy Afterschool: This week, we celebrated staff member Nathan’s last day with us as he moves on to become a high school football coach. We wish him all the best in this exciting next chapter!

Students also made turtle crafts for Earth Day and got creative in Art Enrichment by making egg character puppets.

Jefferson Afterschool students wrapped up the week with a variety of creative and active enrichment opportunities.

For our final student-led Art Enrichment, students created paper hedgehogs, practicing creativity, fine motor skills and leadership as peers guided the activity. Students also enjoyed the last week of Dance Club with Miss Annie, where they continued building coordination, confidence and teamwork through movement.

During Gym Enrichment, students played a caterpillar race game that encouraged cooperation, communication and physical activity. Some students also enjoyed spending time at the park across the street, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and outdoor play.

Washington Afterschool: Students explored creativity and social-emotional learning through a variety of activities this week.

They made a Superman toilet paper roll craft, using imagination and hands-on design skills. In SEL, students focused on The Smart Cookie, learning about confidence and believing in themselves. For a fun seasonal project, they also created bunny glove crafts.

Wilson Afterschool students used their creativity and imagination during Superhero Day by designing their very own superheroes!

Students created unique characters complete with special powers, weaknesses and custom outfits. This activity encouraged creative thinking, storytelling and self-expression while giving students the chance to bring their ideas to life.

Kids Unlimited Summer Camp kicks off next week! Sign up now and choose your location: Kids Unlimited Academy or Jackson Elementary School.

Camp starts June 15 and runs through Aug. 7. The daily schedule, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., includes breakfast, lunch and a snack. The cost is $250 per week with a four-week minimum. ⁠Each week brings an engaging theme that incorporates hands-on learning and fun!

Week 1: Game On! – high-energy games, teamwork and movement;
Week 2: Animal Adventures – play animal-themed games, build habitats and tackle animal-themed obstacle courses;
Week 3: Stars, Stripes & Summer Fun – classic games, creative projects and festive activities;
Week 4: Mad Scientists & Messy Experiments – learn through hands-on discovery;
Week 5: Under the Sea – dive into an ocean-themed adventure;
Week 6: Build It! – design, build and test engineering and construction projects;
Week 7: Fun With Food – make no-cook snacks, create edible art and design food-inspired projects;
Week 8: Summer Celebration – create friendship bracelets, memory books and showcase talent and favorite moments.

Oak Grove Afterschool: This week at Oak Grove, we celebrated Mother Earth with a classic favorite—dirt cups! This hands-on activity gave students a fun way to connect with the theme of Earth Day while practicing simple food preparation skills. As always, it was a big hit, and the kids loved making (and enjoying) their tasty treats.

Roosevelt Afterschool: This week, students celebrated Earth Day through creative and hands-on activities.
They made flower bouquets using their handprints, exploring creativity and personal expression. Students also created dirt cups using pudding, Oreos, and gummy worms, connecting a fun treat to the Earth Day theme while practicing simple food preparation skills.
