Had a great time running the Scary Scurry 5K in Franklin this weekend.
Sometimes it’s good to remember that not every race needs to be an all-out effort. It’s okay to just run for the fun of it. Luckily it is hard to take anything too seriously when you are dressed like a jack-o-lantern and Bob Ross takes first place.

Runners need to lift too. While Natalie is in her off-season for Hyrox, one of our main focuses is building maximal strength.
Increasing her deadlift improves full-body coordination and reduces the relative effort of moving her body through space, which will ultimately improve running economy.
The standing strict press builds overall upper body strength, but in Hyrox, the main goal is to make wall balls feel easier. It’s a lot less taxing to do 100 reps when the load is 10% of your max instead of 50%.

Strength training can change your life if you let it. I am so grateful to work with clients like Jacqueline. Our current goal is a life-time first pull-up, I have no doubt she will crush this like everything else we’ve attempted!

The beginner stage of any new pursuit is always intimidating. Every time I go out for a run I have the same initial feeling of anxiety as when I first stepped into the gym as a small weak teenager. After 16 years the weight room has become my comfort zone and I needed a new challenge to push myself mentally.
When I started running back in May I don’t think I had run a mile straight since high school and could only manage about a minute of running at a time. I am still slow and still have a long ways to go but I am very happy with this 4 mile PR from yesterday.
