Welcome back, Bulldogs! We’re excited for another year of learning, leading, and growing with Bell Creek Middle FFA!

FFA is so much more than farming—it gives students opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, make new friends, serve their community, explore future careers, put classroom learning into action, and discover new interests.

Who can join?
Bell Creek Middle FFA membership is open to 7th and 8th grade students who are enrolled in an agriculture class this school year.

We have lots planned for this year, and we can’t wait to get started. Ask Ms. Powell about joining FFA and becoming part of the fun!

100TH VA FFA CONVENTION DAY 3!

We started the day with some VT waffles before heading to Burrus Hall for the MS award session.

Before session, a National FFA officer led a workshop for all the members. Then it was finally time to see how our members did in their first ever contests! Our members all placed in the second (red) and third (yellow) scoring tiers!

After our morning session, we hit the Career & Opportunity Expo. There students were able to meet with various college and career representatives, eat delicious Homestead Creamery Icecream, collect swag, and some of our members even got to meet Henry Groseclose’s grandson (one of the founders of the Future Farmers of Virginia, which eventually became the FFA).

Later during our evening session, we got the opportunity to hear Katie Frazier, Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry and Governor Abigail Spanberger speak on the importance of protecting and continuing Virginia’s largest industry (82.3B/yr)—agriculture!

We had such a great time attending the 100th VA FFA Convention. It was truly a gift to be part of this centennial celebration!

100th VA FFA CONVENTION DAY 2!

We started the day by cheering on our Small Animal Care CDE contestants. Then it was time for a campus tour! Ms. Powell went full tour guide mode—walking backwards and pointing out all the fun cool spots on campus like the FFA historical room (which the students were thrilled to tell everyone about how Ms. Powell helped build it), the Duckpond (where we saw baby ducks!), the Pylons, Torgersen Hall bridge, the bookstore, and we even snuck in a little history lesson by checking out the Solitude and Fraction homes (remnants of the plantation that once stood where campus is now).

Later that evening, we played giant beach volleyball before finally hitting the hay for the night!

100th VA FFA CONVENTION DAY 1!

We traveled to Virginia Tech, move into our dorms, explored one of the best rated dining halls in the country, competed in the agriscience mechanics CDE, attended the Courtesy Corps orientation meeting, and went to opening session before retiring back to our dorm to rest up for more fun tomorrow!

Agriscience Exploration students took on the task of designing and creating their very own door signs! From brainstorming ideas and creating designs to measuring, cutting, sanding, and assembling, students put their agricultural mechanics skills to work to create a project that reflects their personality and creativity.

We are proud of the craftsmanship, problem-solving, and attention to detail our students demonstrated throughout this project!

6th grade exploratory students finished their woodworking projects last week! They had the choice of creating the last man standing peg game or a tic tac toe game.

It was incredible to watch them grow in their confidence using tools—many of them had never used a power tools before, but ended the semester feeling like pros and eager to plan out their next project.

Way to go Bulldogs!
