Not sure which instrument is the right fit? Our Instrument Sampler Class gives students the chance to explore a variety of instruments, make music, and discover what they enjoy most!

🎶 Fall Registration is OPEN and lessons start this week! 🎶

Our fall semester is here, and we’re excited to welcome both new and returning students for another great year of making music!

Lesson times are filling quickly, but we still have openings for private music lessons this semester. Whether your student is picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to take their skills to the next level, we’d love to help them find the right teacher!

We had an awesome recital season including big recitals at Westminster Presbyterian and a handful of lobby concert at our studio - going to share some clips of our students!

🎶 Faculty Feature: Gustavo Dobles 🎶
Meet Gustavo Dobles - active composer, multi-instrumentalist, and passionate teacher. Born in San José, Costa Rica, he began playing music at 13 and later earned composition degrees at the Boston Conservatory and the New England Conservatory. His early career included multiple orchestral premieres in Venezuela and a first-prize win for Symphony No.1 at the Premio Municipal de Música in Caracas, Venezuela. Active as a composer, his music is readily available on major streaming outlets under his name, Dobles and Dobles Ensemble.
Gustavo teaches piano, guitar, bass, and ukulele. Drawing from an eclectic mix of classical, rock, experimental, and Latin styles, Gustavo’s dedication and highly structured approach help his students progress to playing intermediate and advanced repertoire.

🎶 Faculty Feature: Hayes Cummings 🎶

At Greater Richmond School of Music, our incredible faculty sets us apart. We’re excited to kick off our Faculty Feature Series with our Owner and Director, Hayes Cummings.

Hayes is a multi-instrumentalist, professional musician, and lifelong educator with degrees in both classical and jazz music. He has performed on stages across the country and with notable RVA musicians, including recent performances at Allianz Amphitheater and with the Richmond Symphony.

Hayes believes strongly in the community aspect of music making, encouraging students to perform, collaborate, and grow together, while balancing strong fundamentals with fun and creativity in every lesson.

We’re excited to share that Summer Camp registration is officially open at Greater Richmond School of Music! 🎶☀️

With a wide range of engaging camps for students ages 4-16 there is something for everyone! Our elementary-age camps are perfect for beginners, while advanced options are tailored for campers with prior playing experience.

We’re offering all of our camp favorites and classics again this summer, including:

- Instrument Samplet
- Mini Musical Theatre
- Mother Goose Meets Dr. Seuss

We’re also thrilled to introduce a couple of brand-new camps this year:

- Movie Music Sing-Along
- Rhythm Explorers
