Messiah University Murray Library Library for Messiah University. In 1914, the library’s collection numbered only between 300-400 books and was housed in Old Main. Murray.

Murray Library is your destination for in-person and online resources and services to assist you in finding relevant information for all your research needs for your courses. It’s a place to meet with friends for a cup of coffee at Café Diem, to work on a group study project, enjoy an inviting spot to study, or get individual research assistance from a librarian. In 1958, the library moved to its

current location. In 1977, the College expanded the library’s physical space even more, accommodating the growth to the library’s current collection of more than 58,000 square feet and over 300,000 print books. The interior of the building was most recently renovated in 2013 and the exterior steps were redesigned in 2020. The library is named for William Lynch Murray, the architect who designed the building, and his wife, Geraldine W. Special collections include the Ruth E. Engle Memorial Collection of
Children's Book Illustration, the W. Jim Neidhardt Collection, the Canadian Literature Collection, and the Artists' Books Collection.

Yesterday was our Treasure Hunt for First Year and Transfer Students. Library staff and building partners in the Archives, Messiah University Writing Center, Media Production, and welcomed 69 students who got a firsthand look at key resources to support their academic success along with some snacks and swag! If you missed out, we'll have librarians ready to greet you at select times throughout the next week.
