Learn Chinese Through Dujing

Learn Chinese Through Dujing Teach students to learn Chinese through reciting Chinese classics repeatedly and extensively. The sa

Classics Read-Aloud and Recitation has been in practice for thousands of years in order to train Chinese children to become literate. When reciting the classics, students apply coordinated efforts to a single reading task at hand: their eyes looking at the characters, ears hearing the pronunciation, mouth uttering the sound, fingers pointing to the character, and heart focusing on the task. This t

raining develops their brain as well as their ability to focus and absorb information. While repeatedly looking at the text, they also learn to recognize the characters, in a similar way that English speaking children learn their sight words. With enough repetition, children can easily commit the text to memory. Idioms, proverbs and common sayings from the classics still permeate the Chinese language. As a result, students build up their vocabulary through classics reading and recitation. At the beginning stage of learning Chinese, explanation of the text is not the priority, as the students do not have the developmental maturity nor the life experience to understand the meaning of the text. Instead, the focus lies on enabling students to fine-tune their Chinese pronunciation, to learn to recognize characters, and to develop reading fluency. As they continue with their Chinese studies, they will gradually learn to comprehend the text, and apply the knowledge throughout their lives.
