The Novices and Players kicked off World Cultures this afternoon learning about the Sioux. TLC dad and local artisan Dan Johnson stopped in to help with the lesson, as their family spends time on a Sioux reservation during the summer!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for Grandfriends's Day today! So much joy to be had! We did activities in our classrooms, showed off the movement piece we've been creating, sang together for Whole School Sing, and enjoyed pizza and a super-sized Voyager snack shop together! It was a blast!

Inspired by the book "Story Rug," TLC students have been collecting stories and creating our very own braided rug! Each student brought in some scrap fabric, and we've been braiding all of the scraps together into one big, beautiful rug - with each piece representing each one of us!

We've dived right into the new school year and our Transitions Theme with some visitors to the classroom! Dana and Scott brought us a whole bunch of monarch caterpillars and milkweed from their yard. We're enjoying watching them up close and witnessing their metamorphosis!

And Paige and Trawin brought us a chrysalis that they found at their house! We were lucky enough to see it hatch today and admire the butterfly while it dried its wings. And we witnessed it take off during recess!
