GOOD KARMA SUMMER GET TOGETHER
Every summer since we opened Good Karma Jiu Jitsu Academy, we’ve made it a tradition to get together outside the academy for our annual summer lunch. It’s become one of my favorite days of the year.
I love getting to spend time with my kind of people—and it’s even better when there’s good food involved.
When I dreamed up Good Karma years ago, I never could have imagined the incredible mix of people who would come together here in Meadville because of a shared interest in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
On any given night, you might find a chaplain, a SWAT officer, a surgeon, a small business owner, a middle-aged dad training alongside his teenage son, college students, veterans, and people simply looking to become a little stronger than they were yesterday.
Most of us probably never would have crossed paths otherwise.
That’s one of the things I love most about Jiu-Jitsu. You shake hands, train together, help each other improve, and somewhere along the way, training partners become friends.
Looking around this weekend reminded me that Good Karma has become so much more than a place to learn self-defense. It’s become a community, and I’m incredibly grateful for every person who walks through our doors.
A special thank you to Jimmy S. for the delicious walleye and to Troy M. for the incredible cheesecake. They were both a huge hit… and they also happen to be two of my favorite foods, so I was a pretty happy guy. 😄
Thank you to everyone who came. You are what makes this academy such a special place.
What’s been your favorite memory at Good Karma so far? We’d love to hear it in the comments!
