As the August 4 election approaches, one of the measures appearing on the ballot is Amendment 5. Because this proposal could have implications for public education funding, we encourage community members to become informed about the measure and review information from a variety of reliable sources before casting their ballots.

The Meadville R-IV School District does not endorse or oppose ballot measures. Our role is to provide factual information and continue serving our students and community to the best of our ability, regardless of the election outcome.

To help community members better understand the potential impact of Amendment 5 on our district, we are sharing information provided by Parents for Missouri Public Schools. According to the information available, significant reductions in funding could have a substantial effect on our district, students, and staff. You can learn more by visiting the following link:

What this means:
Per the Missouri Budget Project's analysis, MEADVILLE R-IV could lose about $298,715 in funding (8% of its budget — roughly $1,394 per student) if Amendment 5 passes. State revenue funds 34% of this district's budget, and the income tax that backs it is what Amendment 5 would repeal.

If your student is planning to participate in MSHSAA sports/activities this year, don’t forget to get their physical before practices start next month!

Fall sports practices start Monday August 10, 2026. More details/information will be coming from the coaches. Reach out to Mrs Fletcher via email if you aren’t sure if your student needs a new physical.
