I am a bridge.
I didn’t set out to be one. I just showed up every day, opened my door, and held space. Somewhere along the way, I became the part of people’s lives that helps them get from point A to point B.
They arrive with babies in their arms and exhaustion in their eyes. They trust me with first steps, first words, first friendships. Some days, their children are with me more than they are with them. I know their routines, their fears, their comfort cries. I know who needs an extra hug and who needs to be left alone.
The parents grow, too. Careers change. Families shift. Life moves forward the way it always does.
And then one day, without drama or malice, they leave.
Not because something went wrong — but because it worked.
The children grow up. The parents move on. New seasons begin. Everyone means well. They always do.
But I remain where I’ve always been.
I am not the destination.
I am not the friend who stays.
I am the bridge they cross — necessary, trusted, and quietly left behind.
And even knowing this, I show up again tomorrow.
