🐻❤️ **Have you heard of Morning Choice?**

Mrs. Balencia’s class is showing us what a "soft start" to the school day can look like!

Before jumping into academics, students have an opportunity to settle in, connect with one another, and get their brains ready for learning. Whether they are building, creating, playing a game, or exploring something hands-on, they are also practicing communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and friendship.

These simple moments help us start the day with something every child needs: connection and belonging. ❤️

📚🐻 Have you met Miss Bowman?

We are so excited to welcome Miss Bowman, our newest RES team member and librarian! ❤️

She is already busy helping our Bears learn the routines of the library, discover great books, and build a love for reading. We are so glad to have her as part of the Roosevelt family!

You can see in the image below, Miss Bowman teaching routines, showing off the library and has already gained the full attention of students in her classroom.

We are so excited to welcome our kindergarten friends tomorrow for their **first half day of school!** 💛

✨Morning session 7:55 AM to 11:00 AM, lunch will not be served on half days

✨Afternoon session 12:00 PM to 3:15 PM, lunch will not be served on half days

✨Wednesday's pick up is at 2:35 PM, due to PLC time reserved for teachers!

❤August 27th...first FULL day of Kinder! ❤

🎉🍎 BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Mrs. Amanda Herpich Backhus! 🍎🎉

We are SO excited to celebrate Mrs. Backhus on being selected as the USD 418 Elementary Teacher of the Year! 🏆✨

Her dedication, passion, and heart for students make such a positive impact each and every day, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her representing our school! ❤️📚

And the excitement doesn’t stop there…she will now move on as a nominee for Kansas Teacher of the Year! 🌻⭐

We kicked off the 2026-27 school year with our district professional development day yesterday! One of the highlights of the day was recognizing our incredible staff.

Join us in celebrating Ms. Amanda Backhus, who is our elementary Teacher of the Year and is now a nominee for the Kansas Teacher of the Year Award.
