Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up!

Conferences will be held on Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at McPherson High School.

Families with students attending the McPherson Alternative Center (MAC) may schedule a conference using the link included in the email from MAC staff.

If the scheduling page displays “No availability during these days,” select “Jump to the next bookable date” to view the available conference dates.

Please schedule your MAC conference by October 9, 2026.

"Be Kind": How a Simple Yard Sign Sparked a Lifelong Connection with Three Amazing Humans!

A Chance Encounter at The Cedars
Two years ago, Nico and Noah were high school freshmen knocking on doors at The Cedars to sell Bullpup football fundraiser tickets when a yard sign caught their eye: "We are all human and all the same, be kind."

Nico instantly knew a good person lived inside. The moment Dayle Toews opened the door, Nico and Noah felt an immediate, mutual deep connection of care. On that hot afternoon, Dayle invited the young men inside to enjoy ice-cold water and the best frozen Snicker cookies, turning a routine fundraiser stop into the start of something extraordinary.

What began as a simple gesture of hospitality has grown into an unbreakable bond. Today, Nico and Noah affectionately call Dayle "grandma," spending hours talking with her about philosophical topics, enjoying brunch together, meeting her grandsons, and sharing quality time. In return, Dayle loves attending their football games to cheer them on, while the boys vow that they "will always keep in touch like grandsons."

Out of pure gratitude for Dayle’s kindness, Nico and Noah constantly look for quiet ways to give back. They stop by regularly just for a visit and friendly conversation, often talking for hours. They clean and maintain her yard, haul unwanted items to the dump, help around the house, clean trash cans, just anything Dayle needs, they are happy to help her.

They do none of this for publicity or recognition. In fact, the only reason this story is being shared is because Dayle dropped by McPherson High School today, eager to share about the exceptional character of these young men and the deep, positive impact they have made on her life.

When we lead with kindness and open our hearts to those around us, strangers become family, and a simple act of care can change lives forever.

Thank you for this simple and powerful reminder: Nico, Noah, and Dayle.

What a fantastic first week back at McPherson Alternative Center! Our students embraced new experiences, adjusted to bell-to-bell cell phone policies, explored new classrooms, and warmly welcomed new faces. Their commitment to building relationships within the classroom truly stood out. We're thrilled to celebrate their efforts today and announce that all students met 100% of their goals through Edgenuity by Thursday afternoon! We can't wait to see what the coming weeks will bring. Here's to a great year!

If you would be able to provide snacks for this event, please sign up below. Snacks can be dropped off before 2pm in the McPherson High School office on August 12th & 13th. Please join us in celebrating our April and May Students of the Month, Levi Moll and Aaron Robbins! Every month, students are nominated by their peers and selected by the McPherson Alternative Center administration based on academic effort, citizenship, and other achievements. Levi and Aaron were each recognized with a certificate of accomplishment and a $10 gift card to The Locker Room Nutrition & Energy.
