Ballerina Victoria Dauberville was filmed performing a dance on the edge of a cruise ship’s bilge, mere inches from Antarctica’s icy waters. The visually-stunning moment was so awe-inspiring, social media couldn’t believe that it was real.

The mix of music genres at the Summer 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris was so incredible! Want to know who performed?

*It was hard to find some of this info so that we could acknowledge the performers. If you know of anything we missed, comment below, and we’ll add it to the main post if we can verify it.*

- Lady Gaga performing Z**i Jeanmaire’s "Mon truc en plumes", yes, en français!; also accompanied by a full-on horn section, upright bassist and keyboardist
- Accordionist Félicien Brut, perched on the Pont d'Austerlitz while the Parade of Nations funneled beneath
- Les Miserables lead-in to…
- Heavy metal band Gojira mixing in opera by Franco-Swiss opera singer Marina Viotti
- Popular French-Malian pop artist Aya Nakamura, accompanied by the French Republican Guard Band
- French pianist Alexandre Kantorow performing Ravel’s “Jeux d’eau (water games)” while rain ironically dances upon his piano
- French mezzo-soprano opera singer Axelle Saint-Cirel performing the French national anthem “La Marseillaise” on top the Grand Palais
- Polish operatic countertenor singer (and breakdancer!) Jakub Józef Orliński
- Algerian-French rapper Rim'K
- Pianist Sofiane Pamart and singer Juliette Armanet, with a moving rendition of Lennon/Ono’s “Imagine”
- The Radio France Choir and French National Orchestra playing the Olympic anthem
- And a heavily-rumored return of the vocal queen, Celine Dion! performing Edith Piaf's “L'Hymne à l'amour" with her musical director Scott Price on piano

And Dancers galore:
- A very French and fun can-can dance (originating from 1820’s) performed by 80 Moulin Rouge dancers; their outfits were designed specifically for the performance
- Dance segments representing an ode to French craftsmen and artisans, with vertical dancing on the Notre Dame scaffolding by Compagnie Retouramont, a huge ensemble of dancers on reflective waterfall stages, and Paris Ballet’s principal Guillaume Diop on the roof of City Hall
- Colorful Cirque du Soleil-like flipping & sway pole acrobats and tightrope walkers
- And thousands more talented dancers (apx 3000!) all throughout the ceremony
- Special shout out to the acrobat(s) that tossed around on the tippy top of Paris while escorting the Olympic torch to the proper hand offs
