Dixie specializes in teaching private voice, piano, acting, and audition preparation from her home studio in Peters Township, PA.

I am a graduate of Point Park University with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in French. I have been teaching private voice, piano, acting, and audition preparation for over 10 years in New York City, San Diego, and Pittsburgh. I have taught ages 4-88, of all levels and abilities, including children and adults with special needs. In addition to private instruction, I also teach group musical

theatre classes at the Center for Theatre Arts in Mt. Lebanon, and serve as the Musical Director for Jeter Backyard Theatre in Treesdale. Contrary to popular belief, I know that anyone is able to sing. It may take more dedication and practice for some people, and it may come naturally to others. The most important thing in a lesson with me is to learn while having FUN! I am a very laid-back teacher who wants to focus on music making you smile. We will choose material and a pace of learning that will keep you excited to rehearse and return the following lesson improved! Did you know I teach adults?!?! Kirsten got asked to sing at a gala, and after teaching her two daughters for years, it’s so nice to have a part of the family back in my studio! It’s obvious where her daughter’s talent came from!! It’s never too late!

This girl right here!!! Kate has been a vocal student with me for 10+ years!!! After graduating this past spring, she played the title role in Diana the Musical at the Theo Ubique in Chicago and has been nominated for best actress! Please vote!

Did you know I specialize is college prep for teens who are looking to make Musical Theater their career? I have 20 years experience planning for prescreens and auditions, choosing and perfecting material, and prepping for those big moments! Here’s two examples: Kate and Tommy, studied with me throughout middle and high school, and still come back to study with me, and catch up for lunch dates! Kate is thriving after graduating college this spring, and Thomas is in his junior year! We just prepped an audition for him at his program. I love when I get to stay connected with my long time students throughout their professional careers! They become family.
