The Fight No One Chooses
No one asks to walk this road,
Or carry burdens quite this deep,
To smile while fear lives in your heart,
And fight through nights you cannot sleep.
Cancer changes everything you thought you knew.
There are days when strength feels far away,
When treatments take more than they give,
When mirrors show a tired face,
Still whispering, “I want to live.”
And somehow, you rise to fight again.
You learn that courage isn’t feeling strong,
It’s being scared and standing anyway.
It’s holding tight to those you love,
When darkness tries to steal the day,
And finding one more reason not to quit.
There are tears the world will never see,
And prayers spoken softly in the night,
Questions with no easy answers,
And moments when you search for light—
Yet hope can flicker even through the pain.
So if today the battle feels too heavy,
And you’re weary from all you’ve been through,
Remember: strength is not never falling—
It’s facing what you never wanted to,
And still believing tomorrow may find you.
