Warren County FFA was proud to hold the first annual Russell Watson Soil Judging Invitational today. This event is held in memory of Mr. Watson and his love for the soil judging contest. We had six teams come out to compete today and practice their soil judging abilities. Congratulations to Van Buren County FFA for taking home first place. We would also like to thank our partners who helped us put on this event: Walker Polled Hereford Farm for hosting us at their farm and digging the pits, Melissa Oliver from NRCS for determining the official results for each pit, Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (MTNA) for setting up a hydration station for all the FFA members and volunteers, and Prater's BBQ Morrison TN for providing us with a delicious lunch. We look forward to hosting this event again for years to come.

15 of our first-year FFA members spent today at the Middle Tennessee Greenhand Conference. They attended leadership sessions put on by the regional officer team, learned more through the Mobile Ag in the Classroom, saw some resources from TWRA and made friends from across the region. Thank you to Middle TN FFA for putting this event on and for the photos of our members with some of their new friends.

Warren County FFA members worked with our local Meals on Wheels-Warren County, TN last night for their annual “Spinning Our Wheels for Meals” fundraiser. We are so thankful this organization allows us to work with them to help feed our community.

Come on out to the Warren County A&L Fair this evening to meet our FFA members. We’re at the petting zoo and are bringing animals for the public to meet. The students are also setting up a Farmer’s Market to sell products they’ve made through their SAE projects. While supplies last, we are also giving away packets of seeds for those who like to garden. We’re set up in the Livestock Barn until 8pm.

16 FFA members spent the day today at Tennessee Tech University for their Fall Judging Clinics. They got to learn about Horse Judging and Soil Judging. Within the coming months they will be putting what they learned to use in the contests. We learned a lot and thank the School of Agriculture for hosting this even yet again.
