It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a truly remarkable woman, educator, and servant of God, Mildred Simmons. 🍎📖
Ms. Mildred came to Covenant Academy in 2005 as our second hired teacher, stepping in to lead our very first 1st-grade class. Her arrival was a milestone moment in our school’s history, but her impact stretched far beyond that single classroom. Across her incredible career in both public education and her time at Covenant, she dedicated a total of 57 years to her teaching ministry. She possessed a rare and beautiful gift for reaching every child. She showed exceptional patience and skill with students who needed extra help learning to read, unlocking doors for children, and building their confidence. Ms. Mildred didn't just teach lessons from a textbook; she poured her heart, wisdom, and faith into generations of students. Covenant Academy is forever grateful for her devotion, her grace, and the legacy of literacy and love she left behind. Please join us in keeping her family, former students, church community, and closest friends in your prayers as they navigate this profound loss.
