Burks Elementary would like to invite our graduating seniors to a special Senior Breakfast. Join us back in the Burks cafeteria on Monday, May 18, at 7:45 am to celebrate your upcoming graduation with your former teachers and classmates. We can’t wait to see how much you’ve grown!

A Leader Like No Other: Celebrating Principal Al Conley
There are leaders who manage, and then there are leaders who inspire. At Burks, we are incredibly lucky to have the latter in Principal Al Conley.

If you’ve spent any time in our hallways, you know that Mr. Conley isn’t just a figurehead in an office—he is the heart of our school. Here is why we’re so grateful for his leadership:

He Knows Our Names (and Our Stories): Whether you are a student, a teacher, or a staff member, Mr. Conley takes the genuine time to get to know you. He celebrates our wins—big and small—making everyone feel seen and valued.

Leading by Example: You’ll find him high-fiving students in the morning, jumping in to help during lunch duty, or offering a hand with a project. No task is too small, and he never asks us to do something he isn't willing to do himself.

A Culture of Joy: He has cultivated an atmosphere at Burks that is both safe and fun. It’s a place where students feel protected and staff feel supported, allowing creativity and learning to truly thrive.

Administrative Professionals Day was this week, and we are shining a massive spotlight on the two incredible women who keep Burks running like a well-oiled machine: Ms. Vasty and Ms. Susy!

If you’ve walked through our front doors, you know that these two are more than just "front office staff"—they are the face, the heart, and the backbone of our school community.

Why We Love Them:
The Ultimate Problem Solvers: From misplaced backpacks to complex scheduling, they handle every "emergency" with grace and a smile.

The Warmest Welcome: They greet every student, parent, and staff member by name, making sure everyone feels seen and supported the moment they step inside.

The Master Multitaskers: They juggle ringing phones, band-aids, paperwork, and visitor check-ins without ever breaking a sweat.

A school is only as strong as its front office, and at Burks, we are the strongest around because of Ms. Vasty and Ms. Susy. Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and for being the glue that holds us all together!

Attention New Finch Elementary Students and Families! We are hosting a Meet and Greet event on Wednesday, April 29th. We will begin at 5:00pm with introductions of our administrators, school counselor, nurse and even some of our teachers. You will be able to tour the school and have any questions you may have answered..
