Parenting Adolescents? Here's a great podcast from Dr. Ken Wilgus to discuss strategies and insight into successful parenting. https://feeding-the-mouth-that-bites-you.simplecast.com/episodes - link to episodes!
Today I shared the results of dyslexia testing with parents, explaining each assessment and how the scores, as well as other qualitative data, indicated that dyslexia therapy was the best intervention for their child. The parents, however, declined services because they felt that to say a child is dyslexic was saddling them with a detrimental label when they didn’t believe it was true. They prefer to wait and see and assured me that they would work with their child daily to close the gaps identified in the testing. I pray they are right - but I fear they are wrong. Of course I am biased and feel that it’s better to err on the side of caution than sit back and hope that what hasn’t worked in the past will suddenly create a miraculous change. Precious time will tell....
